Greenville, SC (PRWEB) January 7, 2010 -- Checkpoint Zero, LLC today announced that the inaugural Checkpoint Tracker National Championship will be produced by Gravity Play Sports the last weekend in October at an as yet unannounced venue in the Rocky Mountain region.

Will Newcomer from Gravity Play Sports said, "The Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Series is the ultimate proving ground for teams and athletes from across the country to showcase their skill by competing on a national level. With the addition of the Checkpoint Tracker National Championship, the best racers will now compete head to head, on the ground, at the Series finale. I can't think of a better way for teams to finish off the season. We are excited and honored to be producing the first ever Checkpoint Tracker National Championship!"

Checkpoint Tracker offers five competitive divisions; Solo, 2 Person Coed, 2 Person Open, Coed Elite and Open Elite. Both Elite divisions include 3 and 4 Person teams. Teams accumulate points based on their best performances at any of the 75+ Checkpoint Tracker events throughout the year. Top teams in each division by total points will be invited to compete at the Checkpoint Tracker National Championship. The race will challenge every competitor equally no matter which division they are competing in.

Teams competing in the Coed Elite division at the National Championship will be eligible for $10,000.00 in cash prizes. The top finishers in all other divisions will be awarded prizes provided by our sponsors including MPGear.com, Swiftwick, Ultimate XC , Breathe Magazine, MyTopo.com, Numa Sport Optics, Headsweats, nuun and SportMulti.

"From the beginning the vision for Checkpoint Tracker was that it would expand to include more promoters which would mean more events which would mean more racers would have the opportunity to compete", commented Paul "Yak" Angell, President of Checkpoint Zero, LLC. "We've gone from 12 events in 2008 to almost 80 events for 2010. The level of interest since we launched the new website has been tremendous. More than 530 adventure racers have created personal racer profiles and over 170 team profiles. I'm really looking foward to watching the competition heat up as the season kicks into high gear."
