With the addition of the Checkpoint Tracker National Championship, the best racers will now compete head to head, on the ground, at the Series finale. I can't think of a better way for teams to finish off the season. We are excited and honored to be producing the first ever Checkpoint Tracker National Championship!"

Checkpoint Tracker offers five competitive divisions; Solo, 2 Person Coed, 2 Person Open, Coed Elite and Open Elite. "We've gone from 12 events in 2008 to almost 80 events for 2010. The level of interest since we launched the new website has been tremendous. More than 530 adventure racers have created personal racer profiles and over 170 team profiles. I'm really looking foward to watching the competition heat up as the season kicks into high gear."

For more information including rules, rankings, details about the National Championship, a schedule of events and profiles of every Checkpoint Tracker racer, team, promoter and event visit checkpointtracker.com.

Silverman Awarded 2011 ITU World Championships

2011 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships to be Held in Henderson, Nevada

Lowery’s Multisport Races, home of the Nevada Silverman Triathlon was recently awarded the contract to host the 2011 Long Distance Triathlon World Championships. The Athlete's Plate is now available in bookstores, endurance sports shops, and online.

Kelinson demonstrates how buying local, seasonal foods will save time and money. He explains how organic whole foods provide more nutrients than conventionally grown food and how a minimalist approach to cooking is more convenient and nutritious than laborious gourmet recipes.

The Athlete's Plate provides 85 delicious, quick-prep recipes to fuel the active lifestyle. Kelinson's worry-free dishes include smoothies and juices; power snacks; appetizing soups, salads and dressings; carb-filled pastas, polenta, and noodle bowls; lean protein dishes featuring seafoods, poultry, pork, and savory vegetarian preparations; and satisfying desserts.

The Athlete's Plate reflects Kelinson's years of experience as a professional chef, endurance athlete, and student of the relationship between nutrition and the environment. The book offers a no-nonsense way to balanced nutrition, incorporating all the nutrients athletes need to fuel and recover for training and racing. At the height of the season, athletes often disappear from the yoga studio, yet it is then that yoga can be most beneficial. The Athlete's Pocket Guide to Yoga makes it easy for athletes to continue reaping the benefits of yoga all year.
The Athlete's Pocket Guide to Yoga offers 50 simple yoga routines athletes can use every day. The book includes quick warm-ups and cool-downs, 20-minute flexibility routines to relieve muscle tightness, longer strength sessions for the off-season and base periods, focus exercises to sharpen mental toughness, and restorative routines to speed recovery.

Even without any yoga experience, readers will find The Athlete's Pocket Guide to Yoga simple to use. PLEASE keep in mind race week is very busy for us and we may not respond to emails as quickly. Please be sure to check the website for answers to any of your questions.

We were out at the lake yesterday and it was gorgeous out there, there were plenty of athletes in the lake, on the bikes and on the run courses getting ready for the big day. It's been great fun for myself and the BBSC staff to see this race grow from 114 athletes in 2004 to nearly 800 this year. Thanks again to all of you for coming out and making this race such a success. Here is your info and we'll see you out this weekend!Packet pick up info:Club Sport from 2-8:00pm 2100 Olympic Ave. Henderson, NV 89014 Google Map.

We'll be body marking at packet pick up to help speed things up on race morning for everyone. If you do not get body marked at packet pick up, be sure to look for the volunteers in the bright orange shirts in transition to get you marked. USAT and NON USAT member instructions:
Everyone MUST show picture ID.

If you signed up as a USAT member, you MUST show your USAT card or pay the price of $10.00 for your one day USAT fee. Over the years, this event has developed into a premier endurance event with more than 2000 athletes.

“We are very proud of this 25th anniversary“, commented Carsten Krause from the event organisers Jeschke & Friends. “There are very few Triathlon competitions in Germany that can look back at such a long tradition.“

How it all started

A review of the history of the Cologne Triathlons shows that the event series began in 1984 with the European Championships for the Iron-Distance (3,8km Swim, 180km Bike, 42,2km Run) and the Long-Distance (2,5km Swim, 110km Bike, 33km Run). Already back then well-known Triathlon stars such as Dirk Aschmoneit, Wolfgang Dittrich and Jürgen Zäck were among the starters. In 1985 the Deutschland Cup for “Ultra-Triathlon“ was held in Cologne.

In 1992 the staging of the German Championships for the Triathlon Short-Distance followed in which Germany’s Triathlon elite battled for the titel. Franziska Lilienfein, Ute Schäfer, Simone Mortier, Sonja Krolik, Thomas Hellriegel, Rainer Müller, Gerd Amrhein, Ralf Eggert and Holger Lorenz were just some of the athletes that competed for the places on the podium. Even the Triathlon legends Mark Allan and Julie Moss were among the starters of the Cologne Triathlon in 1990.

In 2005 Uwe Jeschke und Carsten Krause, from Jeschke & Friends Event Organisers took over the organisation and running of this endurance event. With fresh ideas and a new route concept into the Cologne city centre, this event has developed more and more to a premier event, that in addition to the Ironman competitions in Frankfurt und Wiesbaden, the Challenge competitions in Roth und Kraichgau and the Hamburger City Man, belongs to the largest Triathlons in Germany.

New Distances

Youth support is being added to the Cologne Triathlon Weekend program punctually for the 25th anniversary of the Cologne Triathlon. On Saturday, September 5th the CologneKids youth and student Triathlon with distances of 50 / 100 / 150m Swim, 1000 / 2000 / 3000m Bike und 400 / 800 / 1200m Run, in different age groups will take place.

On the same day both the CologneSmart-Distance and the Quadrathlon European Championship will take place. In both competitions the athletes will swim 700m followed by 24km cycling and a 7km run around the Fühlinger Lake. The Quadrathletes must complete an additional 4km kajaking prior to the run.

On Sunday September 6th 2009 is the start for the Cologne226half and Cologne226. While by Cologne226half a middle distance with 2,5km Swim, 90km Bike and 21km Run must be completed, the Cologne226 covers an Iron-Distance with 3,8km Swim, 180km Bike und 42,2km Run. The athletes from the Cologne226 extreme+ distance do a double start in two distances. They start the Cologne Triathlon Weekend on Saturday with the CologneSmart und compete on Sunday in the Cologne226.

The Finish on Sunday, as in the previous year, is on the left Rhein Promenade with a view of the Cologne Cathedral in front of the Buildings of the Landschaftsverbands Rheinland. The organisers are attempting once again to bring this prestigious endurance event into the centre of Cologne. The current negotiations with the City of Cologne are looking positive.

Additional information can be found at: www.colognetriathlonweekend.de/

Triathlons in Germany
- - -

Pasta Dinner & Lecture Scheduled For Oshkosh Half Marathon

Power Up for the Oshkosh Half Marathon at the ARC Pasta Dinner!

The Oshkosh Half Marathon & 5K will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 8 am is fast approaching. This course is an expert run - expect hard-packed conditions.

Stage 2 - Snowshoeing (2.5 miles) Snowshoers travel south from the transition area up "Long John" following a path through meadows and then proceeding down a beautiful winding path back to the transition area.

Stage 3 - Cross Country Skiing (4 miles) Nordic racers will traverse on an intermediate/expert mountain course on a groomed track utilizing a portion of the Häkan Spär loop and the Bluffs loop. Skiers may choose either classic or skate-skiing style.

Stage 4 - Mountain Biking (12 miles) Racers bike on a winding road which follows along the scenic Yampa River for an out-and-back course. Only 26 x 1.9" or larger size tires are allowed.

Stage 5 - Running (5 miles) Racers run along a paved surface on the Yampa River Core Trail for an out-and-back course (this time on the opposite side of the river). Our site is so busy that we just can't keep up with it. We are starting this web log so you the triathlete can help us (and each other) find races that we do not yet have listed. It will also give you a place to publish your race reports so others can read of your exploits.

This is our first post, we plan to have a blog for each state. Please feel free to send your comments & suggestions.

Thanks for supporting our web site all these years.

Steve

Stephen Adams
CEO
http://www.trifind.com/
